Notes:  The painted inscription reads: MARIA ERGO ACCEPIT LIBRAM VNGẼTI NARDI PISTICI P¯CIOSE ET V¯XIT PEDES IH¯V, to be expanded (and emended) as Maria ergo accepit libram unguenti nardi pistici pretiosi et unxit pedes Jesu. This is the Vulgate text of John 12:3: 'Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus.'
